Perth’s karting scene has quietly become one of the strongest in the country, and you don’t need to leave the metro area to find a good race. We’ve rounded up six venues worth your time, from PowerPlay’s three indoor electric circuits at Malaga, Bibra Lake and Joondalup to a proper outdoor petrol track up in Neerabup. Whether you’re chasing quick laps after work, sorting a kids’ birthday, or planning a day out with mates that ends with axe throwing, this guide covers the lot.
PowerPlay Malaga
Malaga
PowerPlay runs three venues across Perth, and Malaga is the pick of the bunch with a 4.9 rating. The setup is indoor electric karting on one of the brand’s two-level tracks, with karts that deliver instant power off the line. A 10 minute session costs $37, with two for $67 or three for $97 if one taste isn’t enough.
Regulars from the southern venues rate the trip north. One visitor who brought his nephew found the race marshals did a great job and noted plenty of seating, food, drinks and games to fill the gaps between races. Staff get named and thanked constantly in reviews, which tells you something about the culture here.
Tiana, Hayley, Declan, and Noah were all incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. They made everything feel easy and comfortable, and their positive attitude really stood out.
PowerPlay Bibra Lake
Bibra Lake
South of the river, PowerPlay Bibra Lake holds a 4.8 rating and pulls a mix of locals and holidaymakers from nearby Fremantle. You get the same electric karts and the same session pricing as Malaga, $37 for 10 minutes, along with the well-drilled organisation people mention over and over in reviews.
What sets this venue apart is the care factor. One family praised a staff member named Mark for the consideration he showed their neurodivergent child, and another visitor booked a surprise birthday session for her husband and loved being able to pay for a video of the races. Clean facilities, knowledgeable staff, no dramas.
Brilliant experience with our kids, can’t recommend highly enough! Mark was so sensitive and accommodating giving care and consideration for our neurodivergent child.
PowerPlay Joondalup
Joondalup
The northern suburbs get their own PowerPlay at Joondalup, sitting on a 4.8 rating. If you can swing a weekday visit, do it. One couple went during the day and had the track almost entirely to themselves, and reviewers reckon three races is the minimum to really get into the swing of it.
The crew here cop regular shout-outs by name, with Jared, Latisha, Grace, Trent and Georgia all mentioned in a single glowing review for keeping sessions running smoothly. Pricing follows the standard PowerPlay structure, so budget $37 for one session and less per race as you stack them.
What an absolutely fantastic experience! The track is thrilling, fast, and full of excitement. The staff make the day even better, they’re fun, knowledgeable, and a blast to be around.
Mega Fast Karts Wanneroo
Neerabup (northern suburbs)
If you’d rather petrol engines and open sky, Mega Fast Karts in Neerabup is the outdoor option in this guide, rated 4.4. The track is long, with open straights where you can wind it right up and a few technical turns that reward smart positioning. Sessions cost $45 for 10 minutes, $85 for two, or $125 for three.
School holidays get hectic here, but reviewers keep noting how well the team handles a crowd. One dad was stoked when staff squeezed his 14 year old into four sessions on a packed day, and gift vouchers make shouting someone a race painless.
It was a super busy day but the staff were patient, methodical and very helpful in getting us through a few driving sessions. The track is nice and long with some open straights and a few technical turns.
Hi Voltage Entertainment
Belmont
Over in Belmont, Hi Voltage Entertainment runs indoor electric karting with sessions sorted by age and skill level, so young kids aren’t sharing the track with blokes chasing lap records. It holds a 4.4 rating and doubles as a play centre with a cafe and lockers on site.
Birthday parties are the specialty. One mum who hosted her son’s sixth birthday praised the generous food and the attentive staff who kept the whole day stress-free, though she did find the play centre ran warm. At $36 for 10 minutes it’s also the cheapest karting session in this guide.
Electric karts so no fumes. Around 10 minutes each, we paid for two. Family friendly with a Cafe, locker for your items. Staff were friendly, informative and the races were such a good time!
The Kart Centre & The Axe Centre
Canning Vale
Canning Vale’s Kart Centre pairs indoor electric racing with The Axe Centre under the same roof, which makes it the obvious pick for a work do or a group outing with a bit of variety. The venue rates 4.3 and handles organised sessions well; one team of nine workmates called their visit a fun and competitive time.
Front desk service earns specific praise in reviews, and sessions start at $37.50 for 10 minutes, with two for $65 or three for $90 if you want a decent hit-out. According to one fan, there’s even a picture of the best kart and F1 driver ever on the wall.
Sensational fun for the four of us. Special mention to Sharn at the front desk who I watched show the utmost patience to help some overseas visitors who did not speak much English get in for a racing session.
