The Gold Coast has two karting venues and they cover different ends of the spectrum pretty nicely. Slideways Go Karting in Nerang is an indoor petrol track with a 4.5 Google rating. The petrol karts have proper power to them and the indoor setup means you can race rain or shine. It is the better pick if you want something with a bit more grunt and a more serious racing feel. The track layout is tight and technical, so it rewards good driving rather than just flat out speed. Game Over at Helensvale is indoor electric with a 4.4 rating. It is more of a family and entertainment venue, which makes it a natural choice for birthday parties, school holiday outings, and group events. The electric karts are easier to drive, so younger kids and first timers tend to have a better time here. They run solid party packages and the booking process is straightforward. The two venues are only about 15 minutes apart by car, so you could easily try both on the same day if you wanted. Plenty of families on the Gold Coast make a habit of visiting both to see which one they prefer. Weather is not really a factor since both tracks are indoors. That said, the Gold Coast is one of the best places in Australia for outdoor activities, so karting makes a good backup plan for a rainy afternoon during a holiday. Prices at both venues are reasonable and sit in the $25 to $45 range for a standard session.
