About Mallala Kartdrome
Mallala Kartdrome sits on Adelaide's historic motorsport park and provides outdoor petrol racing on genuine racing facilities. The racing surface itself is technically challenging but genuinely fast, delivering real top speeds down proper straights before corners demand grip and bravery. Tandem karts let parents maintain controls while kids steer, introducing future racers without overwhelming them. Package deals offer noticeably good value for groups. Ten-minute sessions run at competitive pricing. Staff prove friendly and awesome throughout operations. Karts operate quick and stay well-maintained as you'd expect from proper motorsport facilities. Sessions sometimes get crowded with lengthy waits if morning racing overruns. Kart consistency varies between sessions, with some noticeably faster than others, complicating lap time comparisons across sessions. Once on the racing surface, experience proves properly fun and rewarding. Historic track atmosphere adds character. Facilities look professional because they seriously are. Helmet hygiene relies mostly on balaclava wipes rather than dedicated cleaning. The track quality justifies visits despite organisational inconsistencies.

We attended the afternoon “$99 All You Can Drive” session scheduled for 1pm. Unfortunately, the morning session overran and our group (3rd of 4 groups) didn’t get on track until around 1.5 hours late, leaving ~48 people standing around waiting for between an hour or two noting the requirement to arrive early to sign a waiver (the waiver could also be emailed with the rotations to allow review and legal advice to be sought if needed as written on the waiver). It is also important to note that terms and conditions as well as waivers linked from the booking are for 'The Bend' not Mallala. The Rezdy ad states a minimum of 5 on-track sessions (no session length specified). However, the rotation schedule emailed out allocated 12-minute blocks per group for only 5 sessions (rotations have to happen in the 12mins). In reality, actual driving time was closer to 9–9.5 minutes per run. In the end, the 4th and 5th sessions were combined into one longer 18-minute run, which participants agreed to given the significant delay. Running four groups per session clearly puts pressure on staff. This resulted in karts running out of fuel on track and limited time to properly manage or maintain the fleet. Timing and lap comparisons are part of the appeal, but karts were not evenly powered or maintained. Underperforming karts were knowingly rotated back in, which impacted the competitive aspect. Having a fast kart one session and a “donkey” the next makes times hard to compare. Helmet sharing relied only on balaclavas for hygiene, which feels inadequate by modern standards. That said — once on track, it was genuinely fun. Speeds were respectable (low 70km/h top speed, ~50km/h average), and the track itself is enjoyable. This experience would be significantly improved with fewer groups per session, less waiting, better kart consistency, and improved hygiene controls. With those changes, it could be excellent.

Check the place out! Staff are a truly awesome and friendly bunch. Karts are quick and well maintained, as is the track as you'd expect from a real racetrack! Definitely will be back. Thanks for the great experience for us and the kids too!

Adelaide's most historic race track now is the newest kart facility in SA! Race on the ACTUAL track at Mallala Motorsport Park. While being technical but also fast; you get a real feeling of top speed as you fly down the straights and hang on tight as you swing through the corners. Bring the kids too because their tandem Karts let your future racing heros steer while you remain in control. Package deals are great for groups or you can simply arrive and drive with ten minute sessions at a great price. I will be back.
